Stand Togther In The Midst of Differences

So the supreme Court just made gay marriage legal in all 50 states a couple days ago. It was a historic day for America weather you agree or disagree with it. We live in an interesting time with technology and it is very intriguing to listen to everyone's opinions that are constantly being broadcasted on the internet. Facebook is a constant forum for expressing personal opinions and I'm not going to lie sometimes they really irritate me but so what I don't have to agree with everyone. It takes courage to put yourself out there and say what you believe but when people are hateful about it, it no longer seems so courageous.

Sometimes our opinions and beliefs can become our biggest idols. It's like we have believed something so long that we cannot imagine it any other way so we decide to throw caution to the wind and preach like we are the voice of God and anyone who does not agree should just keep their mouth shut. Sometimes people say the craziest, meanest and cruel things out of blind self righteousness. This is why I tend to bite my tongue because I realize I am not all knowing. I would rather be silent than argue a no win situation.

It seems there is a new enemy in our divided world we live in. You see not only does God work in mysterious ways but so does Satan. He wants to get our eyes off God, love and all things good so he can reak havoc and destroy us.

It is inspirational to watch people live their lives so passionately and with so many strong beliefs. Weather you are christian., atheist, Buddhist, Jewish, Catholic, Republican, Democrat and the list is endless we all have strong opinions on what is right and what is wrong. All these groups have a fierce fire in their eyes and some even have the faith to die for what they believe in. It is truly amazing.

My faith lies in Jesus Christ. I am not perfect and will never claim to know most of the answers to a lot of hard questions. I have the desire to hear God's voice and live a life that is full of God's presence because that is my heart's longing. Not everyone shares this longing and though I wish they did I am not the judge and I will never force my beliefs on anyone. That would be like asking your husband to tell you he loves you. If you have to ask does it really mean that much?

We are all in this life together and we live in struggling times. So much heartache, so much suffering, so many problems and the worst thing we can do is fight against each other because of our differences. I would rather choose to love through the hateful rants people are constantly posting. Everyone likes to find that perfectly written article that perfectly portrays their opinion regardless of how one sided and hateful it sounds. The saddest thing is when I see Christians so blatantly and unapologetically spewing hateful messages with no conviction at all. No wonder the church gives a lot of people a bad taste in their mouth. Just like the bible says we can have all things but without love it means nothing. It's time to stand together in our differences and agree to disagree but yet agree to LOVE despite the divide between us. How can we not see the enemy turning us against each other?

I believe in heaven and I for one cannot wait to live an eternal life in paradise. I think of the beauty on earth and can only imagine the glory heaven will hold. I believe their is an enemy and none of us are exempt from his schemes and plans for evil. I pray we all make it to heaven. On the judgement day it won't matter where our opinion lies it will only matter what is in our heart. God help me to overcome hate and prejudice and join hands with people who see things different than I do. After all it's not right to tell someone I told you so! It is better to hope we all find our way out of darkness and into the light. God is the light and he will guide our paths.
