Last Day

Today was the last day of baseball for Riley.  It was such a great season.  Just such a breath of fresh air in the midst of a depressing time.  Somehow we made it work and had a very enjoyable experience.  Sometimes when you are looking ahead it can seem impossible but when you just take it day by day it is much easier to always find a way.

I so enjoyed watching my boy learn and grow through baseball.  I have treasured the relationships made with families that I would otherwise have never gotten to know.

These boys were so blessed to play baseball in 2020.  I am happy to have the memories we made together.

Congratulations to the 11U Features Phenoms!  2nd Place

Also want to remember a good person today.  Jessica Mayer.... excellent mother of 3 boys, hard worker, joy filled, compassionate, honest, trustworthy, happy go lucky and beautiful friend gone from this earth way too soon.  Heaven is just breath a way but here on earth it feels impossible to be separated from each other.  I guess I see why faith is one of God's greatest gifts.  Faith is knowing there is more not just hoping.  God rest your soul Jessica, it comforts me to know in Heaven's timing you are just a breath away.  God be with Jessica's family now, tomorrow and all the days of their lives until they are reunited with the other part of their heart...Jessica.

Baseball's Saving Grace

Baseball has been our saving grace this summer.  I always look forward to baseball season and by the end I'm so ready for it to be over.  This year we didn't know if we would play at all.

We formed our own team and called ourselves the " Features Phenoms".  This year has been like no other.  Our kids, coaches and families did our best to give our kids something fun to do this summer despite the awful state our country is in right now.  Not just the pandemic but the horrific behavior our country is producing.  It is truly appauling.

Tomorrow is the last day of Baseball 11U.  I'm sad for it to be done.  The boys had a season and an experience together they will always remember.   It has been truly neat to watch our kids grow up together.  As a family trying to do what's best for our kids during a historic pandemic, it is a relief to know every single parent sitting at the ballpark watching their kid play baseball is dealing with the same exact thing we are.   I am thankful they got to play and still learn and grow.
